History of the Foundation for the Children of Haiti

Chapter 10 –

2010: Earthquake

The Foundation's facilities suffered only slight damage during the earthquake. With experienced staff and undamaged facilities in Port au Prince, the Foundation was able to immediately reach out to many people impacted by the quake, and several children who had lost parents were taken into care

2011: Guest House

The 2010 earthquake destroyed a number of hotels and guest houses in Port au Prince. In the aftermath of the quake, the Foundation and other agencies were assisted by professionals from abroad. In order to provide accommodation for these volunteers, in late 2010 the Foundation acquired a guest house from a missionary group that was exiting Haiti. On an ongoing basis, the guest house provides reasonably priced accommodation for work teams and other volunteers working at the Children's Village and Hope Hospital, as well as other organizations in Port au Prince
