Rainbow of Love
Rainbow of Love Orphanage ("ROL") is an orphanage for school age children, located at the Foundation's "Children's Village" in the Delmas area of Port au Prince
Boys at ROL
However, in the mid-2000's, the adoption process became very difficult, with placements taking several years to complete and some inappropriate demands being made of organizations working with adoption. Given the circumstances, in 2007 the Foundation made the difficult decision to suspend its adoption program.
With adoption no longer an option, the Rainbow of Love "Nursery" became the Rainbow of Love "Orphanage", permanent home for the 35 babies and toddlers living there.
Until 2007, the Rainbow of Love Nursery shared a 2 story building with Hope Home. In 2007 the new Hope Home building was completed at FCH's Children's Village. The space vacated by the Hope Home on the main floor used to expand the Rainbow of Love to 70 children, and a school program was started for the ROL children on the second floor of the building.

The children at ROL live in "family units" consisting of 8 to 10 children who are cared for by a "house mother". The children and their house moms live together like a big family – eating meals together, doing activities together, and living together in an apartment-style residence. This gives the children a sense of security and stability; more like a home than an institution.
Family Units at RoL – House Moms and their Children
The children living at ROL come from a background of extreme poverty. However, because ROL is there, these children move from a life of need, fear and instability to a home where they receive love, care, an education, and hope for the future.
