Our Organization: Making a Difference...One Child at a Time
|
The
Canadian Foundation for the Children of Haiti ("CFCH") is a Christian
charitable organization registered under the BC Society Act, and a tax-exempt
registered society under the Canadian Tax Act. CFCH is in good standing with
both the BC Registrar of Corporations and the Canada Revenue Agency.
CFCH was established in 1993 by a number of families who had adopted Haitian children from Le Fondation pour les Enfants d'Haiti in Port au Prince (FEH). CFCH's primary purpose is to support the work of FEH.
CFCH has no employees. All programs and activities undertaken by CFCH in support of needy children in Haiti are delivered by volunteers.
One of the CFCH's guiding principles is that resources will, to the greatest extent possible, be made available directly for the children cared for by FEH. As such, CFCH has very limited administrative overhead. Local costs are mainly confined to corresponding with donors. These local costs run about 1 to 2% of total donations. CFCH does not expend any funds for advertising or promotion, nor has it ever done so.
CFCH
has an active board of directors consisting of six Canadians with backgrounds
in health care, adoption support, and business, along with Gladys Sylvestre,
the founder and President of FEH.
CFCH is supported by Canadian families and individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of needy Haitian children. We receive no government funding.
CFCH's primary activities include:
